Efficiency starts with the water circuit

Water is a crucial factor for efficiency and plant availability in many industrial applications. We focus on large thermal water circuits designed for utilizing surface waters. At the interface between nature and technology, our solutions protect thermal units, ensure high-performance operation, and increase energy efficiency.


Born from real-world power plant practice

Our expertise has its roots in the power plant industry. Here, we learned how important managing microfouling and macrofouling in cooling water circuits is for plant availability and turbine capacity. At the same time, it became clear just how much potential this holds for reducing CO₂ emissions in thermal power generation. This knowledge has shaped our work ever since. Our solutions follow the water cycle: from water intake (protecting pumps) and debris filters (protecting condensers and heat exchangers) to continuous mechanical cleaning of the heat exchangers themselves. All of our systems work without chemicals and are designed for constant use.

Today, Taprogge systems are used throughout the world in power plants, seawater desalination, large industrial plants, water and wastewater treatment, as well as in zero liquid discharge concepts, large-scale heat pumps, and chiller plants. As an internationally established group of companies, we channel this experience into integrated solutions for resource-saving water use, waste heat recovery, and CO₂‑efficient plant concepts. In thermal power plants, fouled cooling water systems led to efficiency losses, higher energy use, and limited plant availability. The aim was to find a reliable solution that could be used during ongoing operation. This technical issue gave rise to the idea that laid the foundation for Taprogge’s success and crystallized into a principle that still holds today: Improving efficiency wherever water and energy work together within the cycle.
