Cooling Water Blowdown to Boiler Feed Water
Save water in an innovative and reliable way
Fresh water is becoming an ever more valuable commodity. Water treatment is the best alternative as it enables natural sources of water to be conserved and it combats water scarcity.
The system described here has been designed specifically to meet these requirements. Its modular structure enables it to be modified to suit various applications without any problems at all.
The system incorporates the entire water treatment process from when the wastewater enters the system until it leaves as high-quality fresh water. It is based on a three-stage separation concept.
The first stage comprises an automatic backwash filter which removes macrofouling and therefore prevents the ultrafiltration unit (UF), which follows in the process, from becoming blocked.
In the second stage, the UF unit eliminates total suspended solids (TSS) and carries the particle-free filtrate to the reverse osmosis (RO) unit that is connected downstream. The UF unit also serves as a barrier for bacteria and viruses. This means that the water quality is already high when it reaches the final treatment stage (RO). The RO process is therefore more able to focus on its main task, namely salt retention. This linear and very effective principle is based solely on mechanical filter processes. Chemicals are only used in a limited way to stabilize the RO process and for specialist cleaning of the UF unit. This significantly increases the service life of the membranes and helps to make an even more valuable contribution to environmental protection.
The system is operated fully automatically via a programmable controller which makes it very simple to use.
The TAPROGGE water recycling system uses the latest water treatment technology and is based on the standard elements of fine filtration (FF), ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO) which complement each other perfectly.
Additional treatment stages can be easily integrated depending on project requirements.

Features and Benefits
Benefits:
- Extraction of high-quality water, such as process water or drinking water, from wastewater
- Ultrafiltration (UF) provides the ultimate barrier against solids
- Bacteria and viruses are both removed in equal measure
- Reverse osmosis (RO) removes salts from the water (desalination)
- The use of chemicals is significantly reduced which makes the system environmentally friendly
- Sludge doesn’t form, so there are no disposal requirements
- A reliable process which provides greater operating availability
- Fully automatic operation
- Modular system
- Innovative technology
The system doesn’t just reduce the volumes of wastewater, it also reduces fresh water requirements which provides double the cost savings; closing the internal water cycles also saves resources and makes the system environmentally friendly.
